Education Minor

Purpose

For individuals seeking secondary (grades 7th- 12th) teacher certification in a program that requires a minor.

Education Minor

The Education minor consists of 21 hours of professional core classes needed for teacher certification. Students eligible for the minor must be admitted to the Educator Preparation Program and meet all requirements as outlined in this Bulletin. In addition to the courses in this minor, students would need to complete the following courses:

EDUC 254 Introduction to the Teaching Profession

EDUC 350 Digital Literacy Proficiency

EDUC 475 Directed Teaching in Elementary School

and

EDUC 485 Directed Teaching in Secondary School

The Education minor does not include additional courses for Seventh-day Adventist certification (RELT 201 Bible Study Methods; EDUC 386 Philosophy of Christian Education; and (optional) RELH 230 History of the SDA Church).
