CSIS 340 : Law, Policies, & Investigations in Cybersecurity
Introduces the legal, policy, ethical, and investigative foundations of modern cybersecurity practice. Students learn how laws and regulations shape security decisions, how organizations design and enforce security policies, and how cyber incidents are investigated using forensically sound methods. Topics include privacy and surveillance, cybercrime statutes, compliance frameworks, organizational governance, incident response, digital evidence handling, basic forensic analysis, reporting, and expert testimony. The course emphasizes clear communication, professional ethics, and real world decision-making through case studies and hands-on investigative labs using accessible tools.
